Romans 11: Understanding Circumcision? Why? Because you cannot go past Romans 2 until you do.
So, this is the mid-quarter exam review. If our pastor could give us all a test he would. Not so he could give us a grade. But just so he can find out how much we have assimilated. Speaking of assimilation... if you have listened to the past 10 lectures, you have a problem. Because now... resistance in futile. But cerealy, we are glad you’ve stuck with us thus far.
Okay, get out your drool buckets because he’s going over Genesis 34... again. This is the Dinah Incident and we got here because of circumcision (our new favorite subject at beautiful downtown Cliffside). If you’re new... sorry. Before you run away screaming, just hear this guy out. I promise, you’ll learn amazing things about God here that you won’t learn anywhere else. Anyway, we got here because of Romans 2:25-29, where Paul brings up circumcision. And whenever there’s something like this in the Bible you should ask yourself, “Why is this here?” Why did Paul go from, telling the Jews that because of you the gentiles are blaspheming God, to circumcision? And Romans chapter 2 requires that you have a basic understanding of circumcision before you go to chapter 3. Just like you have to understand Habakkuk before you go past Romans 1:17. Now, pastor Chronister’s idea of a basic understanding, and your idea of a basic understanding, might not be the same.
We get into the mind verses the brain. It’s fun. It’s in Romans chapter 1. There are more hidden things in the Bible than you could ever imagine. Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the Glory of God to conceal a thing; but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.” That’s what we do here.
By the way... that’s just the introduction.
