Joel 205: Is God A Liar And A Murderer? That is Satan’s lie... but how do Calvinists respond?
Ezekiel 38 is going on. Pastor Chronister starts by getting into the official notice from the Israelis to Russia.
We’re in the discussion of the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman. And the seed of the serpent, Judas, delivers Christ over to be crucified. We are entering the subject of the death of Christ. Satan was found guilty of attempted murder of the Woman in Genesis 3. But the man laid down his life for her. In the garden, full of innocence, there is death... the tree of death. God must tell Adam about death. Otherwise, Adam would be easily fooled by Satan. And how did a third of the Angels fall? Satan started by lying to himself. He likes the lie. He likes saying that there is no judgement for him. Why would Satan choose to become the adversary of God?
The question is, “When did Jesus Christ become accursed for us?” Physically it happened at the cross. And there is much about the sorrow surrounding the cup in the garden of Gethsemane. It was a sorrow unto death. The disciples passed out from sorrow. Jesus’ prayer is astonishing. It’s not possible that Jesus didn’t drink the cup. Now, the cup is not equal to the cross, but it is connected, just not interdependent with the cross. And why did Jesus say, “My God. My God. Why hast thou forsaken me?” If you have not heard what is really going on here, you’ll believe what you’ve been told, which is incorrect.
But, how do the Calvinists respond to Satan’s declaration that God is a liar and a murderer, and that Christ perpetuates that lie?
There is much more to this sermon and you’ll want to listen for the insights that our pastor leads us to from God’s Word. Thank you for taking the time to join us.
